Applications of titanium dioxide in industry(3)

Application on welding rods

The welding rod consists of a welding core and a coating.

Titanium dioxide is not only a good slagging agent, diluent, and deoxidizer in the coating, but also an excellent viscoplasticizer and arc stabilizer.

Welding rods made of titanium dioxide can be used for both AC and DC. During welding operation, the arc is fired quickly, the arc is stable, and no splash occurs. The slag has a low melting point, low viscosity, good fluidity, and good operating process performance, which is very beneficial to vertical welding. And overhead welding, the slag is easy to remove after welding, the weld is beautiful and has good mechanical properties.

At the same time, titanium dioxide has strong adhesion, which can reduce the amount of water glass used in the manufacturing process of welding rods, making the surface of the finished product smooth and making arc lighting easy during welding.

Titanium dioxide is one of the main raw materials in the welding industry. The three types of welding electrode coatings, namely titanium type, titanium calcium type and titanium ferrotype, which account for 70% of the total output of welding rods, all use a lot of titanium dioxide.

Application in metallurgical industry

The metallurgical industry uses titanium dioxide mainly to smelt titanium metal and various titanium alloys.

Application in chemical fiber

Titanium dioxide is an essential auxiliary material in the production of chemical fibers.

Most of the chemical fibers themselves are transparent and have a strong luster.

In order to eliminate this gloss and make its transparency similar to that of natural fibers, it is necessary to add matting agents during manufacturing to reduce the gloss. Titanium dioxide has a high refractive index, strong achromatic power, large covering power, good whiteness, and fine particles. It is uniform, has good dispersion and good chemical stability. It is not easy to change during processing and does not affect the tensile strength and dyeing of the fiber.

Therefore, it is an excellent matting agent and can improve light resistance and weather resistance.

Application in paper industry

In order to improve the physical and mechanical properties of paper, increase the opacity of paper, increase smoothness, whiteness and elasticity, reduce hygroscopicity and improve printing performance, making it more suitable, since titanium dioxide has the highest refractive index among white pigments It has excellent properties such as fine particle size, good dispersion, high opacity, stable physical and chemical properties, and no change with other substances during the papermaking process.

Therefore, the fillers and colorants used in pulp can improve the whiteness and opacity of the paper made, which is incomparable to other white fillers and white pigments with low refractive index.

Therefore, using a small amount of titanium dioxide can produce paper with high whiteness and opacity.
